Are You Enrolled To Vote

Thursday 8p.m. Deadline

Australians have until 8pm Thursday night to ensure they are on the electoral roll and therefore eligible to vote in the 18 May 2019 federal election.

People who are currently on the roll but have moved house in the past three years also need to take action to update their details by tonight’s deadline.

The Electoral Commissioner, Mr Tom Rogers, said all Australian citizens aged 18 and older are required by law to enrol and vote in the election.

“We’ve had hundreds of thousands of enrolment transactions submitted since the election was announced and there are now only hours left for people to sort out their enrolment,” Mr Rogers said.

“If they’re not on the roll, they’ll need to complete an enrolment form as soon as possible today and get it to the AEC before the deadline of 8pm.

“The quickest and easiest way to join the roll or update your details is by going on to the AEC website – www.aec.gov.au – and completing the online enrolment form immediately.”

If people are unable to enrol online, they can pick up a paper enrolment form at any AEC
office or most Australia Post outlets.

Given there is now not enough time for completed paper enrolment forms to be posted and received by the AEC before tonight’s deadline of 8pm, they must now be returned, in-person, to an AEC office today or uploaded to www.aec.gov.au/return
