May Racing Carnival supports local hospice

The Warrnambool Racing Club (WRC) hosted the 2019 TAB Warrnambool May Racing Carnival at the beginning of May. The annual 3-day carnival partners with a different community charity each year. This year, the Warrnambool and District Community Hospice were successfully chosen as the supporting charity partner of the carnival, where they will receive a donation from the club generated over the carnival.

The donation of $9,820 was raised via the annual gold coin donations through the bus services offered over the carnival, as well as, the WRC’s new partnership with Punters.com.au selling limited edition ‘Bool beanies in the lead up and during the carnival.

"Punters.com.au was extremely proud to partner with the Warrnambool Racing Club over the May Carnival."

"We saw firsthand how important racing is to the community, so to play a small part in raising some much-needed funds for a worthy cause is an opportunity we're very grateful for." Said Adam Fiske, Commercial & Marketing Director, Punters.com.au

The Warrnambool and District Community Hospice is a Warrnambool based, volunteer organisation that provides compassionate end of life care, to people who are dying and their families and carers, in their home setting. This organisation supports a valuable alternative to dying in a hospital, which is a growing need in this region.

The donations raised are essential to maintaining the operations of the Warrnambool and District Community Hospice,
which relies on local community donations for its existence.

“The Warrnambool and District Community Hospice is very appreciative of being chosen as the charity for the WRC's TAB May Racing Carnival. These wonderful donations will go towards training volunteers to compassionately meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those who are dying, as well as their families.”, said Brian Dillon, President of the Committee Management for the Warrnambool and District Hospice.

WRC are thankful to those patrons that continue to support the chosen charity partner each carnival and to
Punters.com.au for their contribution this year.
