For the first time in the program's history, festivals and events can apply for funding.
“As a Council we really enjoy seeing the projects and work that come out of the Community Development Fund,”
“Clubs, groups and organisations are usually able to match the funding or add enormous value through volunteer efforts and the results are very impressive."
Mr Herbert had some advice for those wishing to apply for funding for their events.
“Applicants must provide all the required information in their submissions and we’re really excited by the new festival and events funding which is an initiative arising from the Warrnambool Events Strategy.”
"Those seeking festival and events support can apply for seed funding, which supports the development of new events that demonstrate a strong community focus; or growth funding, which supports existing events which demonstrate sustainability, have operated for three or more years and provide significant economic, social and cultural benefits to Warrnambool."
“Council acknowledges that events, regardless of scale, play a critical role in community health and wellbeing,”
Mayor Tony Herbert says community groups can apply for up to $5,000 in funding.
“They create economic stimulus, they encourage community pride and participation and they generate capacity for our city.”
