Brendan McCartney Signs As Coaching Mentor

The Cobden Football Netball Club has announced a big signing for next year.

Former Western Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney is joining the bombers as a mentor to their Coaching and Football Program for 2020.

Brendan coached Ocean Grove to 4 consecutive premierships before heading to the highest level and has over 20 years of experience in the AFL system.

He started as an assistant and development coach in 1998 with Richmond, spent 11 years at Geelong from 2000-2010, then moved to Essendon as senior assistant in 2011.

McCartney was appointed senior coach of the Western Bulldogs from 2012-2014.

After that, he joined Melbourne in 2015 where he spent the last 4 seasons.

Brendan, along with his business partner Susie Robinson, who has 15 years experience in the media working with the ABC & 3AW, will provide the Cobden Football Club with extensive knowledge and professional guidance for the Bombers football coaches, from u12s through to their senior ranks.
