ONE ARREST, 21 FIREARMS SEIZED AS PART OF WARRNAMBOOL AND PORTLAND POLICE OPERATION
Detectives from Warrnambool and Portland have arrested one person and seized 21 firearms across south western Victoria as part of Operation Athena.
The operation targeting firearms compliance was conducted between Monday 6 September and Friday 10 September, where police executed one search warrant, six Firearm Prohibition Order compliance searches and 84 licensed firearm storage inspections to locate and seize any unsecured or illegal firearms and firearm related items.
The search warrant was executed at an address in Camperdown on Monday 6 September, where officers seized an imitation firearm, ammunition, shotgun cartridge, laser pointer, baton and six grams of cannabis.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and later charged with a range of offences including prohibited person possess imitation firearm, possess ammunition, possess prohibited weapon and two counts of possess cannabis.
He appeared before Warrnambool Magistrates Court and was bailed to reappear before the same court on 8 April 2022.
