Wanted: 30 helping hands for children in need
Regional leaders are calling on dozens of local people to put up their hands for foster care, as Victoria prepares to celebrate Foster Care Week, which begins on Sunday.
The push is part of the Share Your Care foster care recruitment campaign targeting people from both the Great South Coast and Wimmera regions.
Former Victorian Premier and carer Dr Denis Napthine has put his weight behind the campaign, calling on at least 30 people to put their hand up and find out more about becoming a foster carer, in the 30 days of September.
“Every night in our region up to 400 children and young people won’t be sleeping in their own bed, while most stay with family or friends, for some foster care is the only solution,” Dr Napthine said.
