Mr Tehan says “The Coalition Government understands that our success and prowess as a sporting nation begins with grassroots sports, which is why we have focused our investment on local grassroots sporting facilities such as the Warrnambool Field and Game,”.
As outlined in the National Sports Plan, Sport 2030, grassroots sports help drive increased participation and promote social, health and community benefits of physical activity and sport – a key priority for our government.
Mr Tehan said sport played an important role across the Wannon region and the benefits of the Coalition Government investment in the facilities will be felt right across the community.
“Sport 2030 recognises sport plays a significant role in Australia, from our biggest cities to regional communities like ours here in Warrnambool”, Mr Tehan said.
The funding delivers solar power to the Woolsthorpe range, and for the first time, the club will have power without the steady hum of a generator in the background.
President of the Warrnambool Field & Game Inc, Geoff Morris “ thanked Dan for advocating for the infrastructure in this round of funding. The installation of solar power will take our club to the next level and gives us the opportunity to run more professional competitions that are safe and also provide an opportunity for our members and guests to socialise in a more amenable environment”.
“Permanent power at the site will enable the club to run night time competitions and host social events with a reliable canteen service. The lighting will also provide additional safety and also boost their communications systems”, said Mr Morris.
