Applications for WCC fund encouraged before deadline

Warrnambool clubs, organisations or events planning a new project or initiative are being encouraged to get there application in for a community funding program, which closes next week.

The Warrnambool City Council’s expanded 2020 Community Development Fund has been bolstered as part of Covid-19 recovery measures, by $125,000.

“The Community Development Fund has been going since 1999 and is extremely popular with local groups,” Warrnambool Mayor Cr Tony Herbert said.

“This means that we have up to $253,000 to distribute for eligible projects, clubs and groups can apply for grants of up to $5,000, up from $3,000 last year"

“The other significant change we have made to the 2020 program is that applicants are not required to meet a funding ratio to be eligible"

“This year’s funding model acknowledges that many community groups will not be in a position to make contributions to their projects as a result of COVID-19"

“I strongly encourage community groups to apply for this funding as for this year only there is no requirement for a club contribution. ”

The funding is split into four categories including sport and recreation, sustainability and environment, events and festival and arts and culture.
