Hugh McCluggage scores impressive finish in Brisbane B&F

South West export Hugh McCluggae has claimed the 2021 Nigel Lappin Trophy, awarded to the runner-up in the Brisbane Lions Best & Fairest.

The 23-year-old finished four votes behind eventual winner and club captain Dayne Zorko, but goes one better than his finish from the past two years (third in 2019, 2020).

The Allansford and South Warrnambool export averaged 25 disposals a game during season 2021, while also chalking up his 100th game at the top level.

Speaking at the awards, McCluggage thanked all those within the club who had helped him and the team, while also congratulating his captain.

"We've still got a very young list and a group of great blokes who can achieve a lot I reckon if we all stick together, so supporters stick with us, there is plenty more to come" he said.

"Finally to my family back home, disappointing that we can't see each other very much at the moment, but I feel the support even from you guys down there".
