Midfield Given All - Clear By DHHS, Returns To Processing

Midfield has recommenced processing at its Warrnambool plant, after being given the all clear by the Department of Health to maintain normal operations.

General Manager Dean McKenna said the group resumed processing Thursday morning.

“We have to say a huge thank you to our management, who moved very quickly and professionally to get everything happening at short notice, our staff who followed our stringent protocols and of course to South West Healthcare,” Mr McKenna said.

“We can’t speak highly enough of South West Healthcare and the service the organization provided.

A small number of staff who had close contact with an inspector last Tuesday who later developed symptoms and tested positive on Sunday, will continue to isolate and will be re-tested before returning to work.

Warrnambool Mayor Cr Tony Herbert praised the work of the Midfield Group and South West Healthcare, saying the proactive approach has helped save jobs and prevented a massive hit to the Warrnambool economy.

“It was an extraordinary commitment on the part of staff to agree to being tested and an absolutely amazing effort by the health professionals to complete the testing and provide the results so quickly" Cr Herbert said.

“It has provided certainty for the Midfield operation, for its customers and for the community"

Mr McKenna also thanked their suppliers and broader south-west community for their support.

“Our clients, contractors, farming partners, livestock carriers and all organisations we deal with have gone above and beyond, they have all been understanding and worked with us during the time" Mr McKenna said.

“To the broader community who have given us so many messages of support and understood our decision to halt processing, we thank you too".
