State Government Fails To Match Federal Funding Of South West Roads

It was revealed yesterday in public hearings that The State Government has not committed to providing the funds to match the $60 million that the Federal Government had pledged for the Princes Highway or the $80 million for other strategic roads because it is not their priorities.

Roads Minister Jaala Pulford says that there was no matched funding for the much needed projects because the 2019/20 State Budget was about delivering on the Labor Government’s election commitments and the Labor Government’s priorities.

Member For South West Coast, Roma Britnell says it is extremely disappointing.

"Our roads in south west Victoria are the worst in the state,"

"We've got the Andrews Labor Government who have been in government for 16 of the last 20 years and they're clearly still not understand that our roads need to be prioritised,"

"These roads are of strategic importance."
