Vaccination program expands to include over 50s

The Nation's vaccination program has this week expanded, meaning anyone over the age of 50 is now eligible to receive their AstraZeneca vaccine.

South West Healthcare's Warrnambool vaccination centre will receive its largest quantity yet of AstraZeneca this week, allowing 500 people to be vaccinated between 9am–4.30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The healthcare provider has urged locals who fit the target criteria to take advantage of the opportunity, by booking online as soon as possible at www.southwesthealthcare.com.au.

A vaccination clinic will also operate at the Killara Centre in Camperdown tomorrow (May 4) between 9am–4.30pm.

Despite the limited supply of AstraZeneca vaccine, SWH has been able to commence their local COVID immunisation campaign enabling 2,755 people in the vulnerable target group known as 1B to receive their first dose.

CEO Craig Fraser commended their nurse immunisers, and pharmacy and administration teams for the 3,744 doses of COVID vaccine they’ve so far delivered to at-risk people in our local area.

That figure includes 989 first and second doses of Pfizer for frontline workers.
